SUMMARY
Asian Services In Action, Inc. (ASIA, Inc.) seeks a highly motivated and bright individual who possesses a diversified set of skills for the Financial Capability Program Specialist position. This person will lead the program’s project planning and implementation, including assessing needs, setting goals and objectives, and ensuring successful follow-through on planned activities. Serving as the only Asian American and Pacific Islander focused health and social services 501(c)(3) organization in the State of Ohio, ASIA, Inc. has taken on the most challenging tasks to help the underserved, low-income and immigrant communities across the state. Today, the organization provides social services and health services for over 58,000 individuals coordinated out of four offices located in Cleveland and Akron, Ohio. ASIA, Inc. provides culturally and linguistically appropriate resources to ensure effective programming that addresses the needs of the community.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate the program or project planning and implementation, including assessing needs, setting goals and objectives, and ensuring successful follow-through on planned activities;
  • Utilize effective problem-solving and time-management skills to execute complex programs;
  • Work independently or in a team environment to complete assigned tasks effectively;
  • Work with cross-functional teams in the planning and execution of programs;
  • Assist in the preparation of project proposals, timeframes, schedule, and budget;
  • Schedule, monitor, review, and evaluate project progress; will play a lead role in the activities;
  • Monitor recordkeeping and file maintenance requirements for the program or project;
  • Train and support colleagues in the Housing and Community Development team and other project staff; assign tasks; establish priorities;
  • Prepare records of project activities; oversee and ensure the timely processing and delivery of required materials, including reports;
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, plans, and reports;
  • Attend all ASIA staff meetings

QUALIFICATIONS

    • AA degree and a minimum of three (3) years housing/financial literacy counseling experience;
    • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in project management in a related field;
    • Minimum of five (5) years of experience providing direct services at organization;
    • Must have a minimum of four (4) years of housing counseling experience, i.e., pre-purchase, budget/credit, rental and post-purchase;
    • Willing to obtain HUD Housing Counseling Certification;
    • Familiarity with rules and regulations governing HUD-funded housing programs;
    • Familiarity with pertinent Federal, State, and local housing laws, codes, and regulations;
    • Knowledge and understanding of fair housing and tenant-landlord laws;
    • Track record of thinking conceptually and mastering complex subject matter quickly;
    • Team Player with good listening skills;
    • Experience in community outreach;
    • Excellent interpersonal skills;
    • Ability to create a positive environment that is able to respond to constant change;
    • Ability to work well with supervisors, co-workers, and external stakeholders;
    • Ability to work independently and to undertake supervisory responsibilities as needed;
    • Bilingual preferred

The position reports to the Chief Program Officer. We are seeking a candidate who has strong technical and soft skills, high energy, maturity and potential for leadership.
